What’s the process for pet ultrasounds?
An abdominal pet ultrasound is a straightforward, stress-free process. The goal is to give our vets a clear look inside your pet’s body without causing pain or discomfort. This is how the process usually works:
A small patch of fur is shaved so direct contact can be made with the skin.
A layer of pet-safe, water-based gel is applied to the area to improve the quality of the images.
A handheld probe is moved gently across your pet’s abdomen to capture real-time pictures.
The scan typically takes less than 30 minutes and the results are available immediately so treatment can begin immediately, if needed. There’s no downtime from the ultrasound itself, and most pets tolerate it perfectly fine.
